B Launcher is an Android home-screen launcher, app and contact finder, and contextual suggestion tool published by B Simple Apps, LLC ("B Simple Apps," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information B Launcher (the "App") accesses, how it is used and stored, which outside services may process information, and the controls available to you.
B Launcher is designed so that its core launcher, search, customization, and personalization features operate locally on your device. The App does not require an account. B Simple Apps does not operate a backend server that receives your contacts, home-screen layout, searches, handwriting strokes, location, or B Launcher usage history.
B Launcher does not display third-party advertising, use advertising identifiers, or sell personal information.
B Launcher does use certain Android services and Google ML Kit. These services and their data practices are described below. In particular, handwriting input is recognized on your device, while the ML Kit SDK sends limited technical information to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics.
Your B Launcher data stays on your device. B Simple Apps does not receive your contacts, location, connected Wi-Fi or Bluetooth identifiers, launch history, searches, Home-screen layout, or contextual suggestions.
Contextual data has one purpose: to rank apps and contacts more helpfully for you on your device. B Simple Apps does not use it for advertising, analytics, profiling, sale, or any other business purpose.
You control it. Contacts, Location, and Nearby devices access are optional. You can turn contextual signals off, clear learned history, or delete all B Launcher data in Settings.
Limited exceptions are explained below. Google ML Kit may send Google limited technical diagnostics and usage information. Your chosen speech service, widgets, and apps you open follow their own privacy policies.
B Launcher reads information made available by Android about launchable applications on your device, including app names, icons, package or component identifiers, installation dates, Android category metadata, and available shortcuts or actions. This information is used to display, categorize, search, rank, pin, and launch apps. Your layout, category corrections, folders, and preferences are stored locally and are not sent to B Simple Apps.
If you grant Contacts permission, B Launcher reads contact names, photos, phone numbers, email addresses, contact identifiers, and contact update dates from Android Contacts. This lets B Launcher include people in search, display pinned contact shortcuts, sort contacts, and initiate calls, messages, or emails using your chosen apps.
B Launcher does not upload your contacts to B Simple Apps or create a separate copy of your contact list. Local layout and learning data may contain a reference to a contact that you pin or open. Your contacts remain managed by your contacts provider and any apps or accounts you use to synchronize them.
Contacts permission is optional. App search and launcher functions remain available without it.
Contextual suggestions are created entirely on your device. When you open an app or contact through B Launcher, the App can store a local history entry containing a reference to the item opened, the time of use, the recent sequence of items opened, and, when enabled and permitted, coarse and store-sized area codes and one-way identifiers for connected Bluetooth devices and the connected Wi-Fi network.
B Launcher retains no more than the 20 most recent launch events for each app or contact opened through B Launcher. This information is used only by B Launcher’s local ranking algorithm to decide which apps or contacts may be useful. It is never uploaded to B Simple Apps, shared with another business, sold, used for advertising, used for cross-app tracking, or used for any purpose unrelated to your on-device suggestions.
Context signals are enabled by default but remain unavailable until you grant the corresponding optional Android permissions. B Launcher asks for those permissions when you first open contextual suggestions. You can disable individual signals, clear learned history, or delete all B Launcher data in Settings.
If you enable area suggestions and grant Location permission, B Launcher may access location while the App is open. B Launcher converts the location into a coarse geographic-area code and associates that code with apps or contacts you open through B Launcher. Approximate Location is sufficient for this coarse-area feature.
If you grant Precise Location permission, B Launcher also converts the location into a roughly 150-meter local grid cell. It stores the cell code, not latitude or longitude, with a launch event and compares the current cell and neighboring cells to account for GPS accuracy and grid boundaries. This can help rank an app commonly opened near the same store, venue, or other small area without identifying or saving the name of that place.
Raw latitude and longitude are held only temporarily in memory and are not saved in B Launcher history. Coarse and store-sized area codes may be stored with the corresponding local launch event. B Launcher does not send location to a place-identification or mapping service, attach a place name to an area code, or determine that a code represents a particular store, business, address, home, or workplace.
B Launcher does not send location or area history to B Simple Apps. Location permission is optional and can be revoked without disabling core launcher and search functions.
If you enable Bluetooth context and grant Nearby devices permission, B Launcher checks for supported connected Bluetooth audio and headset devices, such as headphones or a car audio system. B Launcher converts each connected device address into a one-way identifier before associating it with an app or contact launch. This lets B Launcher rank items commonly used with that device more highly.
B Launcher does not save the Bluetooth device name or raw Bluetooth address. The one-way identifier and learned pattern remain on your device and are not uploaded or shared. B Launcher does not scan for nearby unconnected devices, use Bluetooth information to determine your location, or manage Bluetooth connections.
If you enable Wi-Fi context and grant Precise Location permission, B Launcher reads the identifier of the Wi-Fi access point to which the device is currently connected. Android classifies this information as location-sensitive and requires Location permission to make it available.
B Launcher converts the access-point identifier into a one-way identifier before associating it with an app or contact launch. B Launcher does not save the Wi-Fi network name or raw access-point address, scan for nearby Wi-Fi networks, manage Wi-Fi connections, or use the network identifier to look up a physical place. The identifier and learned pattern remain on your device and are not uploaded or shared.
Scribble strokes are held temporarily in memory and processed on your device using Google ML Kit Digital Ink Recognition. B Launcher does not save or upload your stroke coordinates. Search text entered by scribble or keyboard is used to produce results and is not retained as a search history.
When you choose voice input, B Launcher opens the speech-recognition service configured on your Android device. B Launcher does not request direct microphone permission, record audio, or store audio. It receives the recognized text returned by the speech service.
The selected speech provider may process audio or recognized text according to its own terms and privacy policy. Depending on the service and its settings, processing may occur on your device or through the provider's servers.
B Launcher stores home pages, pinned app and contact references, folders, widget identifiers, preferences, category corrections, and feature settings locally in Android's private app storage. Widgets are provided and updated by the apps that created them. Widget interactions may be processed by their provider under that provider's privacy policy.
B Launcher uses the Google ML Kit Digital Ink Recognition SDK. A recognition model is downloaded to your device. Google states that handwriting input supplied to ML Kit and the resulting recognized output are processed on-device and are not sent to Google servers.
Google states that ML Kit SDKs may collect and transmit limited technical information for diagnostics and usage analytics, including:
Device manufacturer, model, operating-system version and build, and available ML hardware accelerators;
B Launcher's package name and app version;
Per-installation identifiers not intended to identify a user or physical device;
Performance metrics and API configuration;
Feature input and output sizes;
Feature and model versions;
Events such as initialization, model download, recognition, and resource release;
Error codes; and
The configured recognition language.
Google states that this information is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and is not transferred to third parties. ML Kit may also contact Google servers for model downloads and updates, bug fixes, and hardware-compatibility information.
For more information, see Google's ML Kit Terms & Privacy and ML Kit Android data-disclosure guidance.
Voice input is handled by the speech-recognition service configured on your device. B Launcher does not control that provider's processing or retention practices. The service is governed by its provider's privacy policy.
B Launcher can open other apps and services — for example, to place a call, compose a message or email, open web or app-store search, interact with a widget, navigate, or activate an app shortcut. Once an external app or service opens, it handles information under its own privacy policy. B Launcher is not responsible for the practices of apps and services it opens at your direction.
The information described above is used to:
Display and organize home pages, the app directory, widgets, and folders;
Search installed apps and contacts;
Provide shortcuts to call, message, or email contacts;
Recognize handwritten, keyboard, and voice input as search text;
Rank apps and contacts using local usage patterns, time, sequence, coarse and store-sized area context, connected Bluetooth devices, and the connected Wi-Fi network; and
Remember your layout, settings, and customization choices.
B Simple Apps does not use this information for advertising, cross-app tracking, or cross-user profiling.
B Launcher uses Internet access to download and update the ML Kit handwriting model and support ML Kit's technical communications described above. If you choose an action that opens a website or online service, such as web or app-store search, the destination service may use Internet access under its own privacy policy.
B Launcher does not use Internet access to upload your contacts, location, B Launcher usage history, layout, searches, or handwriting input to B Simple Apps.
B Launcher's layouts, settings, identifiers, and learning history remain in Android's private app storage until you remove them, clear the App's data, or uninstall B Launcher. Contextual learning is limited to the 20 most recent launch events for each app or contact opened through B Launcher.
B Launcher is configured not to include its private preference data in Android cloud backup or device-to-device transfer.
You can manage locally stored information in these ways:
Clear learned history: Use B Launcher Settings → Contextual suggestions → Clear learned history to remove launch patterns and hidden suggestions without resetting the rest of the App.
Delete all B Launcher data: Use B Launcher Settings → Delete my data → Delete all B Launcher data to remove B Launcher's pages, settings, folders, widget bindings, learned history, hidden suggestions, and other local app data. B Launcher will return to its fresh-install state.
Clear through Android: Android's App Info screen also provides a system control for clearing B Launcher's storage.
Uninstall: Uninstalling B Launcher removes B Launcher's locally stored app data.
Revoke permissions: Contacts, Location, and Nearby devices permissions can be revoked through Android Settings.
These actions do not delete contacts or content owned by other apps. Technical information already processed by Google ML Kit, a speech provider, or another external service is governed by that service's retention and deletion practices.
B Simple Apps does not receive, sell, rent, trade, share, analyze, or use for advertising your contacts, location, area codes, connected Wi-Fi or Bluetooth identifiers, B Launcher usage history, contextual suggestions, Home-screen layout, searches, or handwriting input. B Launcher does not contain third-party advertising SDKs.
The limited ML Kit technical information described in Section 3 is processed by Google as the handwriting-recognition SDK provider. Voice services, widget providers, and apps or services you choose to open may process information under their own privacy policies.
